“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ~ Maya Angelou

Q: What is ghostwriting? What do ghostwriters do?

A: Ghostwriters turn dreams into books, “marketable literary properties,” as we call them. We do the heavy lifting, getting your ideas onto the page in prose that sounds like you.

Q: Do I need a ghostwriter?

A: That depends:
If you have an idea but struggling with writing—yes!
If you have an idea but no time to write a book—yes!
If you’ve written something but have no idea if it’s any good—yes!
If you have no clue how to get your book published—yes!

Q: What can a ghostwriter do for me?

A: A professional ghostwriter can get your thoughts or your manuscript into shape for serious consideration by literary agents and publishers—or map out how to sell your self-published book to more than a handful of family and friends.

Q: What can a ghostwriter not do for me?

A: Ghostwriters can’t promise your book will be published. No one can. We can promise you’ll get your best shot at being published and—most importantly—you’ll be proud of your product!

Q: I’ve already worked with an editor. Why do I need a ghostwriter?

A: Editors do a variety of things, from correcting your punctuation to critiquing your work to rewriting your book as they would have it. Ghostwriters make sure your book remains true to your vision and your unique voice.

Q: My wife/husband/best friend/writing buddy/writing teacher has already read my book and said…. Why should I listen to you?

A: I’m not here to tell you what’s wrong with your book. I’ll tell you what’s great about your concept and how together we can make it even better!

Q: I know how to write. Why do I need a ghostwriter?

A: Have you published a book yet? If so, is it selling well? If not, you may not know what it takes to attract readers in today’s competitive marketplace. As an industry insider, I bring a wealth of knowledge about why some books sell and others perish. Lots of good books never sell because authors don’t know how to position themselves in the marketplace. I’ll take that into account before I ever start work on your manuscript.

Q: Will my ghostwriter get my book published?

A: I’ll do everything I can to prepare your book for the consideration it deserves, and I’ll map out the steps you’ll need to take to move toward publication. As your “friendly ghost,” I’ll be with you every step of the way.

Q: What kind of books do you ghostwrite?

A: I work on nonfiction books on a variety of topics (business, health and wellness, sports, fitness, psychology, science, history, politics, social issues, the arts, architecture/design/urbanism, lifestyle, spirituality, new age, and more), novels (romance, mystery/detective, thriller, sci-fi), and legacy books (memoirs and family histories).

Q: How much does ghostwriting cost?

A: I never quote before I have a good sense of where your work is and what needs to be done. Ghostwriting usually takes eight to ten months of intensive collaboration between the client and the ghostwriter. You may need a full ghostwrite, or you may just need one of my “a la carte” services. And yes, I offer client-friendly monthly payment plans and prepare contracts that confirm our terms.

Q: What if I disagree with my ghostwriter’s suggestions?

A: I stay in touch with my clients on a regular (typically weekly) basis. It’s a constant back and forth, from initial interviews to overall structuring to chapter-by-chapter writing and reviewing. You speak, I listen. Together we adapt and move forward.

Q: How do I know you’re the best? Why should I hire you?

A: I’m more interested in seeing you shine than focusing on what’s great about me. In addition to my lifelong love of writing and reading, I’ve completed a year-long professional ghostwriter training (the only such program in the world). I’ve been mentored by the best, and I offer nothing less.
